Track map for Nordsjælland

This map covers the railways north of Copenhagen, except the S-train lines to Hillerød and Farum. It also shows Østbanen between Køge and Rødvig / Fakse Ladeplads, because like most of the other lines here it is owned by Hovedstadens Lokalbaner, which again is owned by the regional authorities.

• To the right is the state-owned main line from Copenhagen to Helsingør. It is used by frequent regional trains. After the Øresund fixed link opened, the ferries between Helsingør and Helsingborg do not carry trains anymore.
• The minor north branch from Hillerød to Helsingør is semi-private: the track is owned by the local authorities, but the trains are operated by the DSB. However, the trains are of the same type as the private railways', and are maintained at GDS's workshops in Hillerød.
• Helsingør-Hornbæk-Gilleleje banen (HHGB) on the upper edge of the map. On the inner few kilometers between Helsingør and Grønnehave it runs in the streets, although in its own lane, and is the most tramlike we have around Copenhagen (there's a picture of this (100 KB gif) on The European Railway Server).
• Gribskovbanen (GDS) in the upper left corner operates two lines, Hillerød-Tisvildeleje and Hillerød-Gilleleje. Its shares most of its rolling stock with
• Frederiksværkbanen (HFHJ) in the lower left corner, goes from Hillerød to Hundested. The trains that connect to the ferry to Rørvig run through to the harbour station Hundested Havn. HFHJ is the only of the shown railways that have regular regular freight traffic, for a couple of customers in Frederiksværk. It has a small fleet of class MX diesel locos and pulls the freight in and out from Copenhagen via the S-train line to Hillerød.
• Nærumbanen (LNJ) is shown on the map between Hillerød and the main line, though in reality it is a good part south of Hillerød. It is a rather short railway that connects a couple of Copenhagen's northern suburbs with the S-trains network at Jægersborg.
• Østbanen (ØSJS) right at the bottom is actually south of Copanhagen, but operated by the same company that runs LNJ, HFHJ, GDS, and HHGB.
