This map suffers particularly from the problem of shunting areas being much too wide with respect to their lengths. It isn't pretty but at least it should give an idea of what's going on.
The freight line from Vigerslev enters the map on the left, just below the S-train line. The bottommost of the 3 tracks used to lead to to some private freight customers; after the airport link was built it is a dead end. Afterwards the freight customers are serviced from the main track.
The irregular yellow blop symbolises the central workshops. In reality it has a the shape of a much less irregular figure (a convex polygon, actually) whose corners I've tried to indicate with red dots. It has a very long »slidetable« with more parallel track segments than anywhere in the freight yard, a handful of large workshop buildings, and a couple of connecting track fans that I have not been able to observe in detail.
The 3+2 horizontal tracks just below the workshop is a containter terminal. Below those is an area of various track maintenance, freight, and other DSB functions, and frankly I don't know what is used for what here.
To the right of the workshops is the motive power depot for both passenger and freight service. A little above the center of the map you'll see two tracks going under the freight yard and connecting the loco depot (and freight yard) with the central passenger station.
As of 2006, most of the tracks in the upper right corner are being removed; the area are being sold off for development.
All of the green »unverified« tracks are taken from a quite obsolete map that appeared in the 4/96 issue of »Jernbanen«.
