Left-track signals

Special signals for trains running on the left track on double-track lines (where trains normally run on the right track) is, as far as I'm informed, a peculiarity of Danish railways. They are not being installed anymore; in new installations both (all) tracks are equipped with regular signals. However, a fair number of the special left track signals still remain.

A distinctive feature of the left track signals is the use of two different »Stop« aspects. This one is used when left track running system isn't enabled, in order to not confuse drivers of trains on the right track with spurious red lights in normal operation.
In some places there isn't any left track running system to enable at all, yet bogus left track entry signals has been put up as a reminder that trains on the left track may not enter the station without special permission. These signals always show Passing disallowed
